I recall when I was a lot younger having significantly more upper-body strength than I do now. For eg - I could do chinups, handstands, and cartwheels for a fair distance no worries.
I've done the pushups thing - thing is, pushups are not my actual goal, and training to do pushups in the past has resulted in me being able to do pushups, not what I'd like to do (which, in this case, is handstands and variations thereof). I'd rather push my goal-time out than change what I'm aiming for at this point, if that makes sense?
